Trip Itinerary

Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel

Upon arriving in Kathmandu, the bustling capital city of Nepal, you will immediately be captivated by its vibrant energy and rich cultural heritage. As you step out of the airport, we will be there to welcome you. The journey from the airport to your hotel is an opportunity to soak in the sights and sounds of this enchanting city. Finally, you arrive at your hotel, where a warm welcome awaits. The traditional architecture and modern amenities blend seamlessly to create a comfortable retreat. The hotel staff greets you with friendly smiles and ensures a seamless check-in process. As you settle into your room, you can unwind and reflect on the day’s journey, excited for the adventures that lie ahead in this vibrant city.

Preparation for trekking

Preparing for the Island Peak trek requires careful planning and thorough preparation to ensure a safe and successful climb. Ensure you have the necessary gear and equipment for the climb. This includes a sturdy pair of mountaineering boots, crampons, ice axe, harness, helmet, down jacket, layers of warm clothing, sleeping bag, headlamp, and other essential items. Invest in quality gear that is suitable for extreme weather conditions.

Kathmandu to Lukla (30 mintues by flight), Trek from Lukla to Phakding – 3hrs

After a short morning flight, your guide and porter will introduce you to Lukla. We start the trek with an easy walk through Chaurikharka village and descend to Dudhkoshi Ghat (2530 m / 8300 ft). We move along the banks of the Dudhkoshi River to Phakding (2652 m / 8700 ft) where we spend the night and acclimatize. At leisure, you can explore Phakding, a very popular stop along the way. NOTE: Lukla flights depart and return to Ramechhap instead of Kathmandu due to ongoing upgrade of Kathmandu airport. Ramechhap is about a 4-hour drive from Kathmandu, so we head to the airport around 2:00 AM. Likewise, the return journey at the end of the trek is 4-6 hours, depending on the traffic.

Phakding to Namche – 6 hours

A relatively easy walk through Monjo passes through pine trees and offers glimpses of distant snow-capped peaks with spectacular views of waterfalls and yaks carrying backpacks. In Monjo, the local authorities will check that you have the necessary permits, such as TIMS cards and a receipt for the park entrance. Your guide will take care of the paperwork, giving you time to walk around and see the sights. We then enter Sagarmatha Park and climb a relatively steep path that finally reaches Monjo where we stop for lunch. After lunch, we continue trekking through forests and the paths cross the water from a high bridge. Once over the bridge, we continue climbing to Namche and then continue the long climb to Namche Ukalo (steps). We continue uphill until you reach Namche, where you can excitedly catch your first glimpse of Mt. to Everest. Today we will spend the night in accommodation where all meals are included in the price, i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Rest Day /Acclimatize

After reaching Namche Bazaar, a well-deserved rest day is crucial for acclimatization during the Island Peak Trek. Nestled in the heart of the Khumbu region, Namche Bazaar is a vibrant Sherpa town and a hub for trekkers. This rest day allows your body to adjust to the increasing altitude and prepares you for the challenging days ahead. During this day, you can explore the colorful streets of Namche, visit the local market, and immerse yourself in the unique Sherpa culture. You can also take a short hike to the nearby villages of Khumjung or Khunde to witness the traditional way of life and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, including the majestic Everest. Resting and acclimatizing in Namche Bazaar not only aids in preventing altitude sickness but also offers a chance to soak in the Himalayan ambiance, recharge your energy, and mentally prepare for the upcoming stages of the Island Peak Trek.

Namche to Tengboche – 6 hours

After breakfast we hike to Tengboche via Phunk – a relatively easy climb. Tengboche Monastery is one of the most famous Buddhist monasteries in Nepal and the Khumbu region. Here you can enjoy a traditional blessing by monks before climbing to Sagarmatha Park to see the UNESCO World Heritage Electronic Computer and 360-degree views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. Tengboche Monastery opens at 15:00 and if we are lucky we can witness a great spiritual ceremony. We stay in Tengboche with all meals included ie. breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Tengboche to Dingboche – 5 hours

The trek from Tengboche to Dingboche is only a short distance that we will probably cover in the afternoon. Last hill to Dingboche and challenging at this height! The road continues to the village of Somare (4020 m) and then to Orsho, where you will spend the night in both. Then the road splits and the left track goes to Pheriche before crossing a suspension bridge and climbing steeply to the village of Dingboche (4460m) where there are many good guesthouses. The price includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Rest Day/Acclimatize

After reaching Dingboche from Tengboche during the Island Peak Trek, it is essential to take a rest day for proper acclimatization and to allow your body to adjust to the increasing altitude. Dingboche, nestled in a beautiful valley surrounded by towering peaks, provides an ideal location for this rest day. During this day, you can explore the picturesque village, interact with fellow trekkers, and enjoy the breathtaking views of Ama Dablam and other neighboring mountains. It is recommended to engage in light activities such as short hikes to nearby viewpoints or visiting the local monasteries to immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the region. This rest day is crucial for preventing altitude-related issues and ensuring a safe and successful ascent to Island Peak. Take this opportunity to relax, rejuvenate, and acclimatize properly, as you prepare for the challenges ahead in your journey to the summit.

Dingboche to Lobuche – 7 hours

After breakfast, our trek begins with an easy walk towards Thukla, then we cross the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and then traverse rocky slopes as we ascend to Chupki Lhara, where we find piles of stones with prayer flags placed by Sherpas. . Scott Fischer (American mountaineer), Babu Chiri Sherpa (Nepalese Sherpa guide) who reached the top of Everest 10 times, who died while climbing Mount Everest. The road continues into the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and there are many beautiful peaks ahead of us – Khumbutse, Lingtren and Mahalangur Himal. We will spend the night in Lobuche. The price includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Lobuche to Gorakshep (4 hours)/Hike to Everest Base Camp and back to hotel (4 hrs)

We start our trek at Mt. to Everest base camp through the huge Gorak-Shep. On the way we pass the Indian military mountaineer memorials. At this point, the path can be confusing, so following the guide is important. The thin air at this altitude can be exhausting. Before Mt. reaching it, we pass rocky dunes, moraine and streams. Everest Base Camp. From Everest Base Camp, you can see the world’s highest peaks, a stark contrast to the gray surroundings – especially in spring. Ahead of us are Khumbuste, Nuptse and Pumori. Then we go back to Gorak Shep. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price.

Early morning hike to Kalapathar to see the view and back to Dingboche – 9 hrs

Embarking on an early morning hike to Kalapatthar from Dingboche during the Island Peak Trek offers an awe-inspiring experience and rewards you with breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Dingboche to Chhukung – 3 hrs

The trek from Dingboche to Chhukung on the Island Peak Trek is a short yet captivating journey. Leaving behind the scenic village of Dingboche, the trail gradually ascends through the picturesque Imja Valley. As you make your way towards Chhukung, you’ll be surrounded by towering peaks and breathtaking landscapes. The three-hour trek offers panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and other Himalayan giants. Chhukung serves as a vital acclimatization stop on the Island Peak Trek, allowing you to adjust to the increasing altitude before proceeding further. The trail from Chhukung takes you through rugged terrain and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Early in the morning Island Peak Summit and back to Chhukung

Setting off before dawn, you embark on a journey that tests your physical and mental strength. As you climb higher, the air becomes thinner, and the terrain more demanding. With each step, you push yourself closer to the summit, motivated by the breathtaking views unfolding around you. Finally, reaching the pinnacle of Island Peak, a sense of accomplishment washes over you as you witness the awe-inspiring panorama of towering Himalayan peaks. After soaking in the beauty and capturing the moment, you begin the descent back to Chhukung. Chhukung to Tengboche – 6 hrs

The return journey from Namche to Lukla after completing the Island Peak Trek is a day filled with mixed emotions. The trek is accompanied by breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, including Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kangtega. Fly back to Kathmandu (30 minutes)

Boarding a small aircraft, you take off from Lukla, a renowned airstrip in the Everest region. As the plane soars above the breathtaking mountain ranges, including the towering peaks you conquered, a sense of accomplishment fills the air. The short 30-minute flight offers magnificent aerial views of the rugged terrain, deep valleys, and remote settlements below. As you descend towards Kathmandu, the city comes into sight, welcoming you back with its vibrant energy. The flight back provides a moment of reflection, allowing you to cherish the memories of the challenging climb, the camaraderie with fellow trekkers, and the awe-inspiring landscapes that unfolded before your eyes. Arriving in Kathmandu, you are filled with a mix of emotions, grateful for the experience and eager to share your stories of conquering Island Peak.

Final Departure, fly back to your home

Following your morning meal, our representative will ensure your timely arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight. If your plans involve an extended stay in Nepal or a late departure, kindly be aware that the hotel’s check-out time is at 11 am.
